I am submitting this post for someone who will read this letter to pass it on to our s0-called City Administration. It's a Damm Shame that city departments, like the Water,Public Safety,Garbage, and other general departments that service our city, ignore citizens complaints, and their many other concerns. I have been trying to contact someone in the water dept for 3 damm months now,to come out to my apartment building to test our drinking water.I was told at a City Council meeting, that the Highland Park drinking water is safe and pure that's crap. However,I will be at the next City Council meeting to bring up this same concern. According to the workers in the Public Housing dept,it's something that is done at the water treatment plant. It's sad when the ball is bounced back and forth between city departments. Nasty and unclean water do cause health problems. This is a major problem along with trash on our streets, and in our alleys, and drug related crimes. Something should be done about it.

Can you tell me what to do about health department issues? There is an abandoned house next to me with tons of trash in the backyard. Large rats are traveling onto my property and my I don't know who or where to go or call. Thanks for any suggestions

Owen, you should start by contacting the Wayne County Health Department. I am sure that they can direct you to the proper authority. Hope this helps!

Good Suggestion Darwin.Health issues outside of Highland Park is directed to the Wayne County Environment Health dept.Their they can be reached by calling 1-734-727-7400.Here in Highland Park we have a great organization, which is NOT a health department. But this group is concerned about cleanup problems.Call the Highland Park Operation Weed and Seed group,at 313-868-5136. Also visit the Highland Park Weed and Seed web site here on HPFOLKS,by highlighting the word links on the main top page, and you can visit Operation Weed and Seed here online.
