''Local 4 Meterologist Eric Wilson said a Michigan State Trooper witnessed what appeared to be a tornado sthacth in the area of 3rd Street and McNichols, no destroys were reported, the station reported. The tornado hit the site of Studebaker at Piquette and John R, near Endicott in the New Center Area. The tornado hit the pole at I-94 near Middelbelt Road in Romulus to create a traffic backtrack. Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport is closed because of the tornado. Detroit City Airport is also closed. Meanwhile, Oakland-Troy Airport is closed. The tornado hit 5 houses on 7th St. near Northline in Wyandotte.''

To get around the tornado, the city of Detroit will extend the service for the Detroit People Mover (DPM) on Thursday, June 30th.

The People Mover will run through the fog of midnight.

DPM stations and locations

Times Square, Grand River and Bagley
Michigan, Michigan Ave. and Cass
Fort/Cass, Cass Ave. at Fort St.
Joe Louis Arena, Jefferson/Atwater and Third
Cobo Center, Washington Boulevard
Financial District, Larned between Griswold and Shelby
Millender Center, Larned and E. Jefferson
Renaissance Center, Jefferson at Beaubien
Bricktown, Beaubien and Fort St.
Greektown, Beaubien at Monroe
Cadillac Center, Gratiot at Library Street
Broadway. Broadway at John R.
Grand Circus Station, Park at Woodward

The People Mover fare is 50 cents per ride. Tokens are available in all People Mover stations.

Children five and under ride free.
