My husband State Representative Bill McConico and I would like to thank those who came out to our Black History Program, Monday, February 28. The weather was not favorable, so we appreciate even more those who braved the cold and snow. From doing events such as this one, we realize there is a need to do something on a continual basis. We plan to make that commitment, not just during Feb, but on a regular basis, for the community and frankly to have a deeper, richer knowledge of our history for ourselves. Please feel free to call State Rep. Bill McConico at (866) REP-BILL if you have any questions or concerns.

What good is it to contact any one of our elected (NOT) selected in Lansing if our telephone calls,e-mails,or letters do not get attention? I believe strongly in the people who we elect to represent us should put the citizens first, and it does not take 3 weeks to reply. It's my freedom as a voter and a citizen not to vote for any elected official who do not care about the citizens and their concerns. There is a article in the Michigan Constitution that gives me the rights to vote for anyone I choose, and I also have the rights to organize a petition drive to get them out of office.I give the Call Em Out Coalition a BLACK POWER salute for calling officials out.I am always available to be contacted.I do not run and I do not hide. Also as a Citizen of Highland Park we do not need to stay stuck in the past history,we need to worrie about the present and the future of Highland Park.

Burvender,I agree 100% with you.I have notice concerned posts like your people don't read, because they don't give a damm, and that's sad to say about Highland Park people.Look at Willard aka Bright school.I blame the pimps on the school board for not hiring security to patrol all Highland Park schools at night.WE need to complain or hold a protest march on City Hall to re-establish our own public safety patrol to watch these landmarks, and dumping sites around Highland Park.I am starting to wonder if many of the citizens are afraid to report crimes,or they don't care because its not in front of their houses,or near their property. Each time I visit this site the front webpage shows the well taken care of houses in the Highland Heights Historic District,or the Medbury-Grovelawn Historic District, and never show where curb side trash and garbage is making our city look like a warzone,or abandon houses where the night dwellers sleep.
